Tash began her career singing background vocals for then up and coming reggae artist Ammoye. They've opened for Beenie Man, Gyptian, Beres Hammond, Etana, Morgan Heritage, Maxi Priest and countless others.
Tash then went on the road as one of Divine Brown's backing Vocalists. They opened a 10 city tour for Bryan Adams in addition to singing live on Canada AM, CTV Playlist and the 2006 broadcast of the Juno Awards. When Jacksoul was added to the summer tour, Tash had the opportunity to lend vocals to their show as well.
Tash went on to collaborate with songwriter Stephen Weiman and released her debut album, Light That Lives, which effortlessly blends Blues, Jazz, Soul and Folk in June of 2015. Tash is currently working on her 2nd album and can be found performing at Shangri-La, Fairmount Royal York, and Hy’s Steakhouse to name a few.
I have wanted to become Tash Lorayne my whole life, which was tough because, I didn’t exactly know who she was. In my mind, she was a badass, fearless soul singer, but in reality I was a totally freaked out background singer. I knew she existed somewhere inside. I loved to write music but was unsure how to completely express feelings that couldn’t exactly be put into words. Not to mention, the stage scared me to bits! After completing my debut album "Light That Lives" with Stephen Weiman his lyrics opened my eyes to things I was feeling but hadn't yet articulated. So as I was read the lyric “have you tried to take my love inside your heart and soul, how could you let this go?” (My Pain For You) or “in this light there is peace, and in this light there is no wrong…” (Light That Lives”) ….I realized that this was the kind of music I wanted to make. Music that makes you FEEL something. And all of a sudden the fear was gone. I suddenly felt passionate and excited instead of nervous. Now, I have found my purpose in life. I am here to shine my own light via my music and my message so that someone out there who has felt what I felt might feel something, and too be able to live fearlessly again. We are all here to support and love each other although it might not look like it right now. Instead of getting caught up in the negative, Pursue your dreams, Be happy, NEVER FEAR, whoever you truly are is in there. We all have a light to shine, it just has to be unleashed.
