Cam Anthony is quite predictably on his way to becoming a star himself. The now-15-year-old Cam Anthony released his debut original song and video, How Can I Forgive Ya,on August 19, 2016. The song/video premiered on GlobalGrind.com, and was subsequently highlighted on SingersRoom.com and Strictly R&B. Five days after its release, the video had more than 500,000 views, and Cam was featured as the Spotlight on Revolt artist for the week of August 29, 2016 on REVOLT.tv.
The world got its first glimpse of Cams gift at age nine during an Americas Got Talent audition. Soon after his appearance, he began posting videos covering popular hit songs, launching his own music career via social media. He became a social media singing sensation, with covers of songs such as Royals,Ain’t No Sunshineand I Won't Give Up. Cams cover videos garnered so much attention that he was invited to perform on Ellen DeGeneresThe Ellen Show, after which, she dubbed him the Golden Voice.Upon watching his appearance on The Ellen Show, Dr. Dre immediately recognized Cams exceptional talent, and shortly after, signed him to his Aftermath/Interscope record label during their first meeting. Soon after, Cam was invited to perform: twice for President Barack Obama at the White House Easter Egg Roll events; as the opening act for KEM's What Christmas Means Holiday concert with Patti LaBelle & Ron Isley.
Cam performed Change Gonna Come and Glory at the 2015 NAACP National Convention in Philadelphia, alongside some of R&Bs best, including Eric Benét, Eddie Levert, Chrisette Michele and Howard Hewitt. Prior to his performance, he appeared in-studio for his first-ever radio interview with Frankie Darcell at WDAS, Phillys R&B/Classic Soul station. Cam also performed at the 2015 Tom Joyner Family Reunion in Orlando. In December, 2015, Cam participated in a YouTubecreator/songwriter collaboration event. Cam, along with two songwriters, created, arranged and performed an original rendition of the classic holiday song,
Silent Night in a professionally-produced performance video which was featured in a special holiday playlist on the YouTube Kids App. Cam Anthony released his first full-length conceptual music video in April 2016, an original rendition of the One Direction song, If I Could Fly.The video can be viewed on the DreamWorksTV YouTube channel playlist, Songs That Stick. In July, Cam released his second full-length video in conjunction with DreamWorksTV, with an original cover of Lukas Grahams 7 Years.The original versions of both songs were arranged and produced by legendary producer, Rex Rideout. Cam took the stage at his first large-scale concert in June 2016, opening for Motown Artist KEM, Lalah Hathaway and Avery Sunshine at the 6,000-seat capacity Chene Park Amphitheater in Detroit, Michigan. Camren Anthony Sherman was born and raised in Philadelphia. His parents first realized his special musical gift at age four when they overheard him singing the Folgers coffee commercial (͞...the best part of waking up, is Folgers in your cup...͟).
To help develop and cultivate his talent, his mother sang with him, and he began singing and dancing in church with the youth choir and praise team.
