Talking Book Featuring Jared

Talking Book Featuring Jared is a studio band formed by songwriter/producer Jared Johnson in January of 2020. Jared Johnson officially entered the music business as a professional songwriter and music publisher in 1998 affiliating with BMI. Born in Philadelphia, Pa, He began musical training at the age of 8 studying piano, augmenting his musical education in elementary school studying clarinet and saxophone, and playing the Moorestown, NJ middle school band and orchestra’s. The first commercial album he ever purchased was Talking Book by Stevie Wonder.

The album introduced him to the concept of a songwriter/producer style and concept being used to create a signature sound. He became a student of the Quincy Jones produced albums “Body Heat”, “The Dude”, and “Back On The Block” impressed with how Jones would introduce new songwriters and new vocalists in his albums, and decided eventually this would be the best vehicle for him to record and release his original songs. Borrowing from his original inspiration he selected the name Talking Book adding the featuring Jared to highlight that his original songs would be featured.

Over the years he’s worked on various projects in the genre’s of gospel, R&B, and smooth jazz with artists such as Babbie Mason, Yvonne Lewis, Gabbie McGee, Sam Salter, Mr. Jonz, Michael Anthony and Sam Skelton. He begins a new chapter with Talking Book Featuring Jared with “LIKE THE WIND” using a stripped down socially distance piano/vocal production style, as the first single from a coming album that he will simply entitle “SONGWRITER”. A project for the R&B Soul genre, but with simplistic crossover production that could find success in multiple formats. The song introduces a young male vocalist known as DAVY.
